A genus hitherto not
represented in this series: Neopetraeus
Martens, 1885. This
Peruvian group has a distinct protoconch and is
restricted to the northern part of the country in
Andean regions at elevations from 800 to more than
3000 m.
The species pictured here is N. tessellatus (Shuttleworth, 1852). The specimens were collected by Valentín Mogollón in the Huaráz region.
